The mission of the Marion Independent School District is to prepare all students with the skills required to enter future adult roles and become effective citizens, productive workers, informed consumers, and responsible family members. |
Situated in the Cedar Rapids/Marion metropolitan area
the Marion Independent School District provides a strong community
school for our students while maintaining challenging curricular and
co-curricular programming. Our district serves over 2000 students
and combines the many advantages of a smaller school without
sacrificing the quality opportunities afforded by our suburban
setting. The Marion Independent School District is proud to serve
our students and community!
Our district uses the web site as a communication tool for our
students, parents, and staff. Each building has its own website
maintained by a staff member of that building and is unique in
design and navigation.

Elementary Music Teacher
Marion Independent School
District
Sarah Jones has been selected to attend the
2013 Symposium on Music in Schools
and to receive the
Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award. From a pool of
nearly
300 nominations representing 45 states, Sarah was
chosen by a panel of music
professionals for her
outstanding accomplishments and vision as a public school
music teacher.
This upcoming June’s Symposium
includes a welcome dinner, workshops, break-
out
sessions, concert and Awards banquet on the Yale University
campus for the 50
selected teachers, of which Sarah is
one. All the events will focus on the theme, “The
Role of
Music in School Reform.” Funding of the award and expenses
associated
with Sarah’s attendance are provided through
the support of the Yale College Class
of 1957.
The
Marion Independent School District applauds Sarah achieving
this level of
distinction in her field.
