Elementary Grade Realignment Study Committee

The Vernon Middle School (VMS) Construction is scheduled to be completed in time for the start of the 2012-2013 school year. VMS will house grades 5-8 once the construction project is completed.  An advisory committee of teachers, principals and parents met with the Superintendent, Sarah Pinion during October and November. The purpose of the committee was to advise the Superintendent on the recommendation to be presented to the School Board on realignment (grade configuration) for Emerson, FMI, Starry and preschool when 5^th grade moves to VMS. The notes and documents used by the advisory committee to assist in the development of the recommendation are available on our website.

The recommendation which will be presented at the Public Hearing on Monday, November 14 at 4:30 concerning grade level configurations for Emerson, FMI and Starry starting in the 2012-2013 school year will include –

     Emerson              Junior Kindergarten and grades Kindergarten, 1, 2

     Starry                    Preschool and grades Kindergarten, 1, 2

     FMI                        Grades 3, 4

Action by the Marion Independent School Board regarding the recommendation will happen Monday, November 28 at the 7:00 p.m. School Board meeting.
