During our Flag Football unit we play on three fields consisting of 8-10 players on a team. Each team must have three linemen at all times. The job of the lineman is to block the defensive linemen. All linemen are not allowed to go out for a pass or run the ball. One lineman called the center is responsible to hike the ball back to the quarterback. Every snap is from a shotgun position. The other positions consist of a quarterback, two running backs, and 2-4 receivers. All of these positions are eligible for catching a ball or running the ball. The defensive players will mirror the formation of the offensive team. Each offensive team will start on the goal line and will have four downs to score a touchdown. There are no first downs. When scoring a touchdown it is worth 6 points. On a try after touchdown, if successful, you will receive 2 points. The defensive team can score on an interception. If the flag is pulled before the defensive team scores, the team will gain possession wherever the flagged was pulled off. In our version of Flag Football we do not have any kick offs. The team starting with the ball will start on the goal line. If they don’t score in four downs the ball will be turned over on downs. There is no option to punt the ball. You must go for a touchdown on fourth down.
