General Softball Rules:
1. Each teams is allowed 3 outs while up to bat. When the third out is made the offensive team plays defense and the defensive team comes into bat.
2. Players must keep the same batting order throughout the entire game. If the order is not followed an out is the result for the batting team.
3.When batting the batter will receive 3 strikes. There are no walks in our variation of softball.
4. During a force situation a defensive player need not tag the runner.
5. In a situation where the runner is not forced to run, the defensive player must tag the runner with the ball or the glove containing the ball before the runner reaches the base.
6. We will use a safety base used in softball in order to avoid collisions at first base.
7. There is no bunting allowed.
8. There is no leading off the bases.
9. There is no stealing allowed.
Terms:
1. Assist- The defensive player who throws or deflects the ball to another player for an out.
2. Double Play- Two consecutive outs made from one batted ball.
3. Error- A player mishandles a ball resulting in the batter or baserunner still be an active player.
4. Force- Term used to indicate that baserunners must attempt to run to the next base.
5. Hit- A ball batted in such a way that neither the batter or baserunner may be put out.
6. Tag- Touching a baserunner that is off base with the ball or the glove containing the ball for an out.
